Am I eligible to work fulltime while on work permit applied status or not?

After completing their studies and applying for a Work Permit, every student wonders if they can work full-time or not?

Don't worry, we've got you covered! After gathering information from trusted sources, here's the answer you need.

You are allowed to work full-time while awaiting a decision on your post-graduation work permit (PGWP) application if, at the time of submission, all the following conditions were met:

  • You had a valid study permit.
  • You had completed your program of study.
  • You were eligible to work off campus without a permit.
  • You did not work off campus more than 20 hours a week during academic sessions.

If you received the WP-EXT for PGWP (IMM 0127 E) letter

You’re authorized to work until a decision is made on your work permit application even if the 180-day validity date has expired. If you need proof of authorization to continue working, you can ask for it by using our web form.

Note: For accurate Information please consult the official Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website or seek advice from a qualified immigration professional.
