3-Year PGWP Eligibility Criteria Effective November 1, 2024

The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced an updated list of eligible programs for the 3-year Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
This new list applies to students submitting their applications after November 1, 2024, providing more clarity on the educational pathways that qualify for extended work opportunities in Canada.

Proof of language ability for PGWP
You must provide proof of language ability to meet the language requirements for the PGWP. Acceptable proof of Language.
If you apply for a study permit on or after November 1, 2024, new eligibility requirements will apply for the PGWP:
- University Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD graduates:
- Language: CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French in all areas.
- Field of Study: All fields are eligible.
- Other university graduates:
- Language: CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French in all areas.
- Field of Study: Must be in an eligible field.
- College or other program graduates:
- Language: CLB 5 in English or NCLC 5 in French in all areas.
- Field of Study: Must be in an eligible field.
The eligible fields of study are divided into 5 broad categories:
- Healthcare 🩺
- Skilled Trades 🛠️
- Transport 👷♂️
- Agriculture and Agri-food 🌾
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) 🔬💻
