  1. Eligibility for Letter of Support:
    • Who: Applicants awaiting a decision as of August 26, 2024, with a valid work permit expiring between May 7 and December 31, 2024.
    • Declined Applications: Those whose applications were declined between May 7 and August 26, 2024, solely due to work permit expiry in 2024.
  2. Assessment Process:
    • Initial Assessment: The AAIP will evaluate eligibility. Applicants must meet minimum stream requirements and have a valid Alberta job offer.
    • Status Maintenance: Expired permit holders must prove maintained status or eligibility for restoration of temporary resident status.
  3. Application Procedure:
    • No Direct Applications: You cannot apply directly. The AAIP will contact eligible candidates based on permit expiry dates.
  4. Work Permit Extension:
    • Duration: Eligible applicants will receive an open work permit valid for up to 2 years.
    • Impact: This extension will help maintain your nomination eligibility and allow continued employment.
  5. Prioritization and Timeline:
    • Focus: The AAIP will prioritize applications with permits expired between January 1, 2024, and May 6, 2024, and those expiring in early 2025.
