Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program

The MPNP offers three streams, with their respective pathways.

1. Skilled Worker Stream

The Skilled Worker Stream is for internationally trained and experienced workers who have the skills needed in the local labour market.

There are two pathways: Skilled Worker in Manitoba (SWM) and Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO).‍

Skilled Worker in Manitoba (SWM) Pathway nominates applicants who have a strong connection to our province through ongoing employment and sufficient skills, education and training, work experience and official language proficiency to make an immediate and ongoing contribution to the Manitoba economy and our community at large.

Requirements for international students from other provinces: If you graduated from a post-secondary program in another Canadian province and want to apply to the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Pathway because you've been offered a job in Manitoba, to be eligible, you must first have been working for that Manitoba employer for at least one year.

Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO) Pathway nominates applicants who demonstrate an established connection to Manitoba through:

  • the support of family members or friends;
  • previous education or work experience in the province; or
  • an Invitation to Apply received directly from the MPNP aspart of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

2. International Education Stream

The International Education Stream (IES) provides international students who graduate in Manitoba and meet industry needs faster pathways to nomination.

There are three path ways:

  • the Career Employment Pathway,
  • the Graduate Internship Pathway, and
  • the International Student Entrepreneur Pilot (ISEP).

3. Business Investor

The Business Investor Stream (BIS) is for qualified business investors and entrepreneurs who have the intent and ability to start or purchase businesses in Manitoba.

There are two pathways:

  • the Entrepreneur Pathway (EP) for applicants seeking to open a business in Manitoba; and
  • the Farm Investor Pathway (FIP) for those intending to establish and operate a farm operation in rural Manitoba.‍

In-Demand Occupations

The In-Demand Occupations List provides a regularly updated listing of which occupations qualify as "in demand" in Manitoba.

Many occupations on the list are limited to specific skilled streams of the MPNP and candidates must meet the specific criteria and requirements for one of the specific pathways listed under each stream. Candidates working in an in-demand occupation will be prioritized during Expression of Interest draws.‍
